July’s Gin Box
Summer has eventually arrived – we hope you’re enjoying the little bit of sunshine while it lasts! It’s most definitely perfect G&T weather.
This month we bring you Ornabrak – Irish Single Malt Gin from West Cork.
Ornabrak is one of a small number of gins internationally which distils its own spirits base, and from local ingredients. Their malted barley is non-GMO and sourced from their contracted growers in the South East – a region that is recognised as one of the best places in the world to grow malted barley.
It is milled, mashed, fermented and four times copper pot distilled in West Cork and the end result is a wonderfully smooth and complex spirit base from which they distill their gin.
Ornabrak pairs perfectly with a tonic that is low in sugar content, so we have included Poacher’s Classic Tonic and suggest adding a thin slice of granny smith apple (also in the box!) for your perfect serve.
So fill your tumbler glasses with stacks of ice and enjoy your perfect Ornabrak serve with some lemon and thyme flavoured ‘Gin Nuts’ from The Sun Valley Nut Company, which we’ve brought in from the UK especially for this month’s box, cool eh!
Five botanicals, five time spot distilled.
Starting with an initial palate of almost 30 botanicals, this was carefully narrowed down to just five, each individually chosen to create a harmonious balance with our unique Irish Single Malt Base Spirit.
Common Juniper (berry), Lemon (peel), Lemon Verbena (leaf), Douglas Fir (needles), Garden Angelica (root)
Nose: Rich and creamy nose with underlying juniper, malt, pine, subtle spice and citrus.
Palate: Smooth and complex flavours unfolding with juniper, vanilla, pink peppercorn, and earthy citrus.
Finish: Long and persistent.
