BEARA OCEAN GIN

March’s remarkable gin has come all the way from the edge of Ireland, Castletownbere on the Beara Peninsula. This month we’re bringing flavours of the sea and the South West of Ireland to you. Beara Ocean Gin is the only gin in Europe distilled using salt water

Distilled by two siblings – John and Eileen Power who wanted to make a gin that was reflective of where they were from, incorporating in some way a marine theme. They spent 2 years researching Botanicals and travelling to other gin producers all over the world. Bringing the sea into their gin using sea water was a lightbulb moment, and only one other distillery in Australia has attempted this. Of course, there are many other botanicals.

Botanicals

Hand Picked Beara Fuschia, Lemon Myrtle, Ventry Harbour Sugar Kelp, Salt Water Cardamom Pods, Coriander Seeds, Peppercorns, Juniper Berries, Ginger, lime and lemon peel.

Tasting Notes

Juniper and Citrus to the fore, Supported by floral notes and spicy warm cardamom. Abundance of Salty flavours complemented by the gingery spiciness of coriander. In the mouth the juniper develops into a crispiness, nicely balanced by gentle spice.

The Perfect G&T

Add ice to your favourite gin glass. Add 45ml of Beara Ocean Gin, top with 60ml of Fentimans tonic water and garnish with grapefruit. The Salt of the gin and the sweet Citrus of the grapefruit fill your mouth with contrasting bursts of freshness.
